God (as conceived by man) is like water, with three states - formless (liquid), form (solid) and symbol (gas). God, who is Sat-chit-ananda appears like water in the formless stage. When fanned with devotion, He acquires a form (like ice freezing into water). Finally when wisdom dawns on man, God manifests in a symbol (like steam out of water). The devotees worship Him in various ways according to their perceptions.
He who has surrendered his mind, heart, and soul to God is a Sadhu (Monk). He who has given up lust and gold is a Sadhu. He looks upon woman as his mother and accordingly worships them. A Sadhu always thinks of God and serves all, knowing that God is in everything.
