Siller Bell Menzie affectionately known as ?Mom, Shug, Shug-a-reen, Aunt Shug, Grandma Siller Bell, and Ms. Menzie? by most of us. We want to remember her life today; just as she lived it: Happy and Joyous. We have never seen her sad or upset about anything that happened in this life. She always showed the characteristics of God?s spirit wherever she went. The beatitudes of the bible and the fruits of God?s spirit were exemplified in her life at all times. We were given clear instructions not to worry or be sad if we were to "hear of her going to sleep." For many of us, she prepared us for this day as she informed many of us that she had "seen her death". She has made her transition from labor to rest. She fought a good fight, and ran the race; finished her course and kept the faith. And to that I say "Well done". She has had a part in shaping each of us, be it directly or indirectly. Some of us took on her looks, some her ways, and still others her actions. She will live on forever in each of our hearts, minds, and spirits. We shall hold dear those ways in which she would make us laugh through joking or telling our family stories and history. Grandma Siller Bell was always glad to see her family from various places pull up in the driveway off of Curtis road. She would always try to make room and never turn any of us away. We, and all who knew her, will miss her kind spirit and soft spoken voice. She was always helpful to so many people. She provided homecare help to her mother and father; sisters and brothers; uncles and aunts, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. And anyone else that called out for her. Her generosity far exceeded her family, and she never met anyone as a stranger. She always held a conversation with them as if she had known them for years. She gave respect to all people; so therefore, she was highly respected by all people. She possessed the virtue of a proverbs woman. Who can find one? A virtuous woman! That was the true core of Sille

The St Louis "Blues is Alright" show was awesome!!! Floyd Taylor; Clarence Carter; Latimore; Bobby "Blue" Bland; Shirley Brown; Sir Charles; and Mel Waiters did their natural born blues thang. I thought it was exceptionally wonderful that Sir Charles went singing Mom's Apple Pie through the audience. He may not have known why he was walking but he ended up in the balcony at a lady who had come to support the show. She could not come down because she was in a wheel chair. We saw some friends of the family as me and my sisters were leaving the show. As fate would have it, we found out that the lady Sir Charles went up to see in the balcony was my long time friend, Mary Williams. Way to go Mary!!!
