Group Video Chat Platform Paltalk Rallies International Community to Raise Over $20,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Sale of Pink-Themed Virtual Gifts and Participation in Newly Created Breast Cancer Chat Room Resulted in Deep Engagement From Paltalk Users From Across the Globe
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - November 10, 2014) - Paltalk, the popular group video chat platform, has announced that it raised more than $22,000 from more than 20,000 Paltalk users around the world for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation over the course of October, which was Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The funds were raised through the purchase of a variety of pink-themed virtual gifts, stickers, and "nicks" (nicknames) that can be used and shared on Paltalk's platform, which allows an unlimited number of individuals to group video chat with one another from any computer or mobile device. In total, nearly 143,000 gifts were purchased.
Additional support and awareness for breast cancer arose through the creation of a Paltalk room geared towards breast cancer survivors and their loved ones, one of more than 5,000 unique rooms that focus on a wide variety of topics and issues. In the future, Paltalk plans to partner with other non-profit organizations that deal with causes addressed in its rooms based on the success of this promotion.
The month-long promotion engaged Paltalk's strong global community of over 2.2 million active users, with the United Kingdom, Jordan, and Vietnam joining the United States as the four countries to contribute the most donations.
"Nearly everyone knows someone who has struggled with or lost someone to breast cancer, so it was a no-brainer for us to try to utilize Paltalk's unique platform and gift-giving features to help fight it," said Jason Katz, Founder and CEO of Paltalk. "Paltalk provides a very real community and support base for those from all over the world who've fought breast cancer or watched their loved ones fight it, and we're thrilled that with this partnership Paltalk was able to join that fight for the second consecutive year."
Individual Paltalk chatrooms also supported the fundraiser. Says Johnny Tselikas of Australia, host of the 3,800-member strong Batteries Not Included, "We have all been touched by someone close to us with cancer. This year BNI was actively involved in helping raise money and awareness for cancer research. It was such a success that BNI will be running a yearly event to do our part in helping raise awareness and as much money for the cause we possibly can. It has been a pleasure working closely with Paltalk during BCRF Month and I'm very happy to see Paltalk and all the supporters of BCRF helped raise over $22,000 dollars."
