Protect your PalTalk account
Please do not provide your password and nickname to any site other than www.paltalk.com or a URL that is a direct link off the www.paltalk.com site. Be aware that there are fake sites that may look like the PalTalk site that have been set up to steal accounts from PalTalk users.

In addition, take caution when using the file transfer feature. Accept files only from trusted sources.

Do you use a router or share your Internet connection among a few computers?
If you use a router or share your internet connection among a few computers, be sure to have 'auto-detect' checked under your PalTalk setup / sound controls. This setting also helps when using most firewalls. If your firewall alerts you that PalTalk is trying to connect to the Internet, be sure to 'allow' the connection and “remember this decision'. From then on PalTalk should work just fine in groups. Be sure your firewall is RUNNING when you do any PalTalk upgrades so it can detect and 'allow' the new version!
If you have trouble doing point-to-point or 'one to one' calls or file transfers, you can avoid this by using a private group instead or place your machine in the 'DMZ' of your router. (Consult your router's documentation for instructions)
